Beliefs

I was fortunate to be born into a Christian family, one that believes God has a plan for all of us. Despite doctor's warnings and advisements, my parents brought me home in September 1985 after receiving a life changing spinal cord injury and learning how to work with this new life. Through this, I was able to continue to attend church and go to Christian education through much of my schooling.

Since birth, I have attended Second Christian Reformed Church in Pella, Iowa. As is part of the CRC tradition, I was baptized as an infant and later in life, at age 17 for me, I publicly confessed that the Lord Jesus Christ is my savior. Since then, I have been a full member of the church, working to help as I can with the church and being part of its blessings and difficulties.

Currently, I serve as the church's webmaster, help with the newsletter and the picture directory. I enjoy regular attendance, normally weekly as my body allows, and with other young adults in regular meetings of study and fellowship.

In 2009, I took a year off from school at Simpson College to allow for healing of pressure sores and associated problems. This allowed for online study through Answers in Genesis, an organization that works to show how the Bible applies to the world around us and how the Bible is Speaking to studentsfurther confirmed in many areas of study. Through several areas of study throughout the year, I was able to further confirm and study God's scripture and the world we live in.

At different Christian schools around my home, I have had the opportunity to speak on disability awareness and how it applies to the Bible. These talks have been enjoyable and I hope to be able to continue doing them and possibly expand. Please feel free to contact me with questions about speaking, or Christianity as well.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)
