Swimming is not the only sport that can be done barefoot. Hiking, climbing, running, and biking can be done barefoot just as well as with shoes. Other examples include soccer, basketball, and rugby in some countries. Gymnastics are regularly performed barefoot as well as karate and other sports.
Children have many opportunities to play in competitive sports, but still remain barefoot. Just like when going to the pool or a friend’s house, leave the shoes at home when going to practice or a game and be ready to play.
